We'd like you to keep these tips in mind to help you take optimal care of your health.

 

However, remember to adapt them to your specific needs.

 

→ Get regular physical exercise, at least 150 minutes of moderate activity or 75 minutes of vigorous activity per week. Come on, get moving! If you think you don't have time, try to find opportunities… like taking the stairs in the subway or your building, getting off one stop early, walking every day, or going for a walk with your family…

 

→ Maintain a good diet, preferably a Mediterranean diet, which has been shown to have the greatest benefits…

 

→ Cultivate your friendships… sharing joys and worries is essential for your emotional health.

 

→ Go to your checkups… and don't postpone them (because we know that, often, you worry more about others than yourself):

 

  • If you are between 25 and 34 years old, get a Pap smear every 3 years. And if you are between 35 and 65 years old, continue getting tested for the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) (the main cause of cervical cancer) every 5 years. Although we know it's not your favorite doctor's visit, remember that early detection can prevent future complications!
  • If you are between 50 and 69 years old, get a screening mammogram every two years or immediately if you notice anything unusual during a breast self-exam.
  • If you are between 50 and 69 years old, unless otherwise instructed by your doctor, you should have a fecal occult blood test (FOBT) every 2 years to screen for colorectal cancer.

→ Allow yourself to feel bad and learn to ask for help!

 

Remember that there are signs you should pay attention to:

 

  • an unexplained feeling of fatigue,
  • increased or decreased appetite,
  • apathy,
  • feelings of sadness or self-loathing…

Don't hesitate to seek expert help! They will give you the tools to overcome these difficult times.

Don't let anyone undervalue who you are or what you feel!
